SCIS AWARD CERTIFICATES TO SHORT COURSE PARTICIPANTS

The Professional IT Training and Business Incubation Centre (PITTBIC) of the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS) has churned out the second cohort of short course Participants/ Beneficiaries since the inception of the Centre. The Participants were trained in Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and Computer Networking for eight weeks at the Afrikids ICT Academy in Bolgatanga.

Speaking at a brief ceremony organised by PITTBIC to award certificates to deserving participants, the Vice-Chancellor of C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot was optimistic that the courses offered by the Centre were relevant to the needs of participants in the discharge of their official duties. Unemployed participants were also urged to leverage on the skills acquired to start their own businesses.

Dr. V. A. Ankomah-Lomotey, Registrar of C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences commended the Participants for the feat chalked and admonished them not to rest on their oars, but put their skills to good use for the benefit of the larger society.

The Head of Department of Computer Sciences, Prof. Edward Baagyere, who stood in for the Dean of the School of Computing and Information Sciences observed that Information Technology (IT) which is the engine that run the economies of the world is evolving and not stagnant. It is therefore necessary for participants to refresh their knowledge and skills at regular intervals. He noted further that the recent shut down of some social media networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter, presented a phenomenon for further research.

Also present at the Ceremony were the Director of Finance of CKT-UTAS, Mr. Anab Anaamoatulim, Deputy Registrar, Mr. Gilbert Ansoglenang, Head of Department of Business Computing, Dr. Gabriel Armah and Mr. Laar Suuk, Head, University Relations. Others were Mr. Moses Agebure, Coordinator, PITBIC, Mr. Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Coordinator, Marketing and Events Management, Ms. Priscilla Ageboba, School Officer, SCIS, and Mr. Alex Akumbuno, Chief Administrative Assistant, Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
