NEWLY-ELECTED SRC/NUGS EXECUTIVES ASSUME THE MANTLE OF LEADERSHIP

A new crop of Executives of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the National Union of Ghana Students Chapter of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) have assumed the mantle of leadership of the student body. This was consequent upon the declaration of the SRC/NUGS election results in their favour and the subsequent swearing into office of the Team.

Dr. V. A. Ankamah-Lomotey, Registrar of CKT-UTAS administered the oath of office at a brief Ceremony held on 19th August 2022 in the Council Chamber.

Addressing the student leaders, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, Professor Albert Luguterah opined that student leaders were partners in the development of the University, hence their nomination to serve on key decision-making boards and committees such as the CKT-UTAS Governing Council. He bemoaned the tendency for student-management relations to get confrontational and urged the newly elected Executives to endeavour to conclude deliberations with Management, without recourse to strike actions and/or demonstrations.

For his part, the SRC President assured the general student body of his unflinching quest to take practical steps to help address challenges students face in their academic and social endeavours. He further pledged to cooperate with relevant stakeholders to advance the agenda of the student front.

Other speakers at the Ceremony included the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ohene Boansi Apea, Ag. Head of Marketing and Events Management, Mr. Abdul-Majeed Yussif and Mr. Alexander Akumbuno, of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
