ENACTUS CKT-UTAS TOPS THEM ALL

The Entrepreneur action U.S. (Enactus) CKT-UTAS Chapter has presented the Enactus National Championship Trophy 2021 to the Management of C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS). It was received by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor Professor Eric Magnus Wilmot.

Professor Luguterah congratulated the Team for their tireless efforts which culminated in a victory that has enhanced the image of CKT-UTAS, both locally and internationally. He charged the Team not to be complacent but to prepare to defend the trophy until CKT-UTAS can have it for keeps. The Pro Vice-Chancellor also noted that members of the Team who will be unable to travel outside the country to participate in the global contest would still benefit in terms of the skills and competencies acquired by participating in the contest locally. “We do not grow individually only through academic endeavours; extra-curricular activities such as the Enactus contest helps to prepare us for future roles,” he added.

Enactus CKT-UTAS who competed among fifteen (15) tertiary institutions vanquished the University College of Management Studies (UCOMS), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER) and Central University in the final round to annex the trophy.

SheaMe and Waste- tek, two innovative projects presented by Enactus CKT-UTAS won the Most Innovative Project of the Year 2021 and the Ford C3 Award respectively.

SheaMe involved converting shea butter into liquid soap, bar soap, body cream, hair cream and hand sanitiser with the option to further convert the waste product into shoes and soles of shoes and insulators.

Waste- K innovatively converts scraps and spoiled fridges into the production of poultry incubators to help poultry farmers in northern Ghana. The Team also trains rural women to produce grade A shea butter.

The Enactus National Competition begun in the year 2000 to support innovations from Tertiary Students by connecting them to investors and global business promoters. The competition was supported by KPMG and Standard Chartered Bank Plc.

Team Enactus CKT-UTAS will represent Ghana in the global competition to take place at a venue to be announced later.

Dr. Peter Agbedemnab, Faculty Advisor, assisted by Seidu Abdul-Rahim Team Lead and Awanah Michael Atamakira, Deputy Team Lead led the Team to present the Trophy to Management. Also present were the Registrar of CKT-UTAS, Dr. V.A. Ankamah-Lomotey, Mr. Suuk Laar, Head, University Relations, and Mr. Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Ag. Head, Marketing and Events Management.
