In their avowed quest to become a World Class University, the Governing Council of the C.K Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) has passionately appealed to the Government to consider the provision of some critical infrastructure to enable them to achieve the set objective. This appeal was made during a courtesy call on the Regional Minister by the Chairman of Council, Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar

According to the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, the University was in serious talks with the leading telecommunication giants, MTN and Vodafone, to secure a reliable and dedicated network bandwidth which according to them to improve on academic activities. He indicated that the University is in dire need of good road networks on campus, a well-furnished office complex for training and research, multi-purpose classrooms, and a modern library among others.

The Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Gorden A. Awandare made these requests during a courtesy on the Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Tangoba Abagaye at her office in Bolgatanga.

He described the expected road network on the University Campus as Key to open up and beautify the campus. Prof. Awandare therefore made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Daquah Akufo Addo through the Regional Minister to urgently fix the road infrastructure on the campus, which presently leaves much to be desired.

He informed the Minister that the Council’s mandate included an over- sight responsibility over managements, appointing authorities and introducing relevant and contemporary academic programmes such as Agriculture and Computer Sciences in order to make it a World Class University.

According to him, some contractors have vacated the sites on campus without completing their various projects due to non-payment of work done especially the Chinese   Contractor working on the Auditorium. Prof Awandare, therefore, used the opportunity to appeal to President Nana Addo Daquah Akufo Addo through the Regional Minister to do the necessary follow-ups to bring the Contractor back to site to quickly complete the said project to facilitate teaching and learning at the University.

Hon. Tangoba Abayage ,  the Upper East Regional Minister expressed great satisfaction with the Council’s proactiveness to raise the standard of the University few months after Parliament had passed the Act, Act 1000/2019 to give it an autonomous status to operate. She added that considering the pace the Council is moving the Region will soon rob- shoulders with other great universities across the globe.

The Regional Minister gave them her own assurance and that of the ruling NPP government that once they are autonomous, they will, henceforth, be getting their own resources directly from the Central Government no longer through Tamale Campus as that in one way or another slow down the progress of work.

She added that with the new status describing as” new born baby” government would pay special attention to them and hence speedily precipitate the process towards attaining their target as a world Class University.
